Getting Started

Even before The Resource Center, I’ve always been interested in business. I grew up working on my family’s farm back when I lived in Lebanon. They also operated their own real estate business, so I got to learn some of the ins and outs at a pretty early age. Later in life, I was fortunate enough to work for a very prominent national insurance company. Even though I was one of the leading salesmen and even earned a management position, I never really cared about sales and quotas and things like that. I wanted a place where I could focus on helping as many people as possible–so I made it.

I started to prepare The Resource Center for a 2001 launch year. It wasn’t anything fancy in the beginning–I got started out of my garage. I remember one of the very first things that I did for my business was to get a desk. So I went out and found this old mahogany desk for $10 and brought it home. It needed a lot of work, but I saw the potential. The desk took hours to refurbish, and every minute was worth it. It’s restored back to its former vision. It’s the same one you’ll see when you swing by my office.

From there, it was all about vetting the right people. Building a team of experts with integrity, compassion, and knowledge that everyone could trust. Think about all of the hard, diligent work that it takes to maintain that degree of competition with some of the biggest insurance companies in the nation. I’m blown away by their tremendous skills and couldn’t be more privileged to have them on my team.

We’re a small team of 15 staff, and you can’t get a better group of people. They work harder than anyone I know, whether they’re trying to find the best deals for their clients or making sure that their financial plan is written exactly the way that they want it. When you’re working with a large, multi-billion dollar insurance company, you lose the importance of a personal touch. We spend a lot of time with our clients to find out exactly what they need so we can find the solution that’s right for them.
