RV & Travel Trailer Insurance
Enjoy your time on the road
RV, Motorhome & Travel Trailer Insurance
Your motorhome, travel trailer or RV can offer you the best of both worlds. You get to explore the country on the open road and still have the conveniences of home when you stop for the night. However, the freedom and joy you get from traveling by RV can come with some additional risks. You’ll need to stay protected both on the road and while parked to camp. So, whether you are a seasonal RV traveling or switching to full-time RV living, working with an RV insurance professional from the The Resource Center means that getting the right recreational vehicle insurance doesn’t have to be expensive or difficult.
Determine which level of coverage is right for you
RV Insurance Coverage
Whether you’re pulling a travel trailer down to Table Rock Lake for the weekend or hitting the open road in a Class A motorhome, The Resource Center helps you find RV insurance that fits how you travel. We work with seasonal campers, weekend adventurers, and those making the switch to full-time RV living across Springfield, Branson and beyond.
A standard auto policy won’t cover your RV the way it needs to be covered. From the contents inside your rig to liability protection while you’re parked at a campsite, a dedicated RV insurance policy gives you the peace of mind to actually enjoy the trip.
-
Liability Insurance Coverage
Protection in case someone is injured in or around your RV.
-
Personal Property Coverage
Enhanced property and casualty insurance that will protect the contents of your RV in case of theft or damage.
-
Roadside Assistance
Some policies include roadside assistance or emergency road service, which has you covered 24/7 in the event of a breakdown or accident.
Frequently Asked Questions About RV & Travel Trailer Insurance
Does my auto insurance cover my RV or travel trailer?
Usually not in the way you need it to. Auto insurance may cover a travel trailer while it’s being towed, but it won’t protect the trailer itself or anything inside it. And for motorhomes, a standard auto policy typically doesn’t provide adequate liability or property coverage for a vehicle that you’re also living in. A dedicated RV policy fills those gaps.
What types of RVs does The Resource Center insure?
We can find coverage for Class A, Class B, and Class C motorhomes, as well as travel trailers of all sizes.
Not sure which category your rig falls into? Below are some examples:
- Class A Motorhomes: These are the large, bus-style RVs such as the Tiffin Allegro Bus, Winnebago Adventurer, and Fleetwood Bounder.
- Class B Motorhomes (Camper Vans): Compact and van-shaped, like the Winnebago Travato, Airstream Interstate, and Roadtrek Zion.
- Class C Motorhomes: Recognizable by the over-cab sleeping area; examples include the Winnebago Minnie Winnie, Thor Four Winds, and Jayco Greyhawk.
- Travel Trailers: From teardrops to full-size bumper-pull and fifth wheels—if you tow it (instead of driving it), we’ve got options.
Do I need different insurance for full-time RV living?
Yes. If your RV is your primary residence, a standard recreational RV policy may not be enough. Full-time RV insurance is specifically designed for people who live in their rig year-round. It typically includes higher liability limits, personal liability coverage similar to a homeowners policy, and coverage for your belongings as permanent residents rather than recreational gear.
Am I covered while my RV is parked at a campground?
Liability coverage generally applies while your RV is parked, including at campgrounds and RV parks. However, coverage details vary by policy, so it’s worth confirming with your agent that you’re protected both on the road and at your destination.
What happens if my RV breaks down far from home?
If your policy includes roadside assistance or emergency road service, you’re covered 24/7 for breakdowns, flat tires, dead batteries, and similar situations. If you’re planning longer trips or remote routes, this is a coverage option worth asking about when you get a quote.
Is RV insurance required in Missouri?
Missouri requires liability insurance for motorhomes since they’re registered and driven on public roads, just like any other vehicle. Travel trailers don’t have their own engine, but liability coverage while towing is still important and often required by campgrounds and RV parks. Our agents in Springfield and Branson can walk you through exactly what you need based on how you use your rig.
Does RV insurance cover my personal belongings inside the RV?
Standard liability policies don’t cover the contents of your RV. Personal property coverage is a separate add-on that protects things like electronics, clothing, camping gear, and appliances against theft or damage. For full-timers especially, this coverage is worth the added cost.
