Overview
Personal
information is any information that identifies you or your personal accounts. Personal information may include the
following: (1) a first and last name; (2)A home or other physical address,
including street name and name of a city or town; (3) An e-mail address; (4) A
telephone number; (5) A social security number; (6) Any other identifier that
permits the physical or online contacting of a specific individual; (7)
Information concerning a user that the Web site or online service collects
online from the user and maintains in personally identifiable form in
combination with an identifier listed above.
As
a general principle, TRC will not automatically collect personal information (such
as your name, telephone number or email address) from visitors to this site.
Personal information is collected only when knowingly and voluntarily submitted
by you. We may collect certain non-personal information to optimize our web
pages (e.g., identify the type of internet browser you are using, the operating
system of your computer, your IP address or the address of your internet
service provider). We may use such non-personal information for internal
purposes, including but not limited to improving your access to and the content
of this site.
We
will ask for your name and email address when you fill out a TRC information request
form, and when you request other services that require registration. This information is used for a variety
of business purposes, including quality assurance, regulatory compliance, and
to upgrade web site advertising and product content to better serve you and
your insurance needs.
Any
personal information stored in our computers is protected from unauthorized access
by secure firewall and database architecture. TRC will not sell or disclose
your personal information to any non-affiliated third parties for marketing
purposes. In addition, we hold our employees and business partners to strict
standards when collecting, reviewing or working with your personal information.
In certain circumstances it may be necessary to disclose user information in
order to identify, contact or bring legal action against persons causing injury
to or interfering with your rights, our rights, or the rights of other users of
this site and our services. No such disclosure will be made, however, unless
TRC believes in good faith that such disclosure is required bylaw.
Security
Generally
TRC uses an industry standard SSL (Secure Socket
Layer) encryption, to allow for the encryption of sensitive personal information
such as name, address, credit card and bank account information you may be
requested to provide online. If you are using a security-enabled web browser
such as Microsoft Internet Explorer 2.0 or better, or Netscape Navigator 2.0 or
better, the information you transmit to us is encrypted. Unfortunately, no data transmission over
the internet can be guaranteed to be totally secure. Although TRC strives to
protect your personal information, we cannot guarantee or warrant the security
of any information you transmit to us or from our online products and services.
These transmissions are undertaken at your own risk. Once we receive your
personal information, however, we will make our best efforts to maintain its
security on our systems.
Protections
for Children (Individual Users Under the Age of 13)
TRC does not knowingly solicit information
from children, nor do we knowingly market our products to children. Persons under
13 years of age may not submit or post personal information to TRC without the
consent of their parent or guardian. No information collected from persons
under 13 years of age will be used for any marketing or promotional purposes
except as explicitly stated during registration.
Cookies
When
you connect with this site, TRC places a small text file, called a "cookie,"
on your hard drive, as a means identifying you to our computers in the future.
Cookies are a standard type of data file used by website administrators to
facilitate your ongoing access to and use of a particular site. Depending on
the information you have previously provided to us, a cookie from TRC might
contain your name, email address, postal address and/or telephone number. It
will not include your password or credit card number, however. No information
stored in a cookie will be shared with or accessible to anyone outside of TRC.
If you do not wish to receive this or other cookies when you are online, or
wish to condition your receipt of such files, there is a simple procedure in
most browser software that will allow you to block or condition their receipt.
Cookies may be necessary, however, to provide you with certain features, such
as merchandise transactions or registered services.
